Chapter Four
Jared woke up in the morning, blinking at the cold gray light that seeped in. The lights were still off, and the sky was a heavy, steel color. The fire was still blazing, and Finn was solid and warm against him.
It didn’t look like it was still snowing, but he could hear the wind howling around the house like it was screaming to get in. Wow. He couldn’t remember the last time there’d been a storm like this. It made him wonder how much snow had fallen, though not enough to get up from his warm spot curled up with Finn.
Then his curiosity got the better of him and he slipped out from under the blanket, shivering as he made his way to the window. The snow was piled everywhere, and atop that was what looked like a sheet of pure ice. There had to be at least three feet of new snow out there. He wasn’t going anywhere.
“Jared?” A moment after Finn said his name, strong arms wrapped around him and tugged him back into the warmth of Finn’s body. “Jesus, look at that.”
“Uh-huh. Wow. Crazy, huh?”
“Yeah. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the streets that thick with snow. Electricity’s still off, too. I’m glad you’re here where I know you’re safe and warm.” Finn stroked his belly, his hips, fingers moving idly.
“No TV, no Internet. No phone. It’s nuts.” It amazed him how everything in life seemed connected to the electricity.
“Whatever will we do?” Finn sounded like he had more than a few ideas. And Finn’s cock was certainly taking an interest in the way they were standing, firm and hot, pressing against his ass.
“Go on a hunt for coffee?” He rubbed back, snuggling right in. “My party is supposed to be tomorrow, Christmas eve.”
Finn peered past him and shook his head. “I have a hunch it just got cancelled. There’s no way they’re going to have all the streets cleared in time. And if there’s still no power...” Finn hugged him tight. “Can you reschedule?”
“I’ll just... I mean, we’ll just do it next year, I guess. I’m glad Ben isn’t alone.”
“Do you need to call people before your phone runs out of battery? Or send a mass email out?” Finn kept touching him, distracting him from worrying too much about it.
“Uh... I’ll send an email. People will know, with the weather.” He’d put a message on his voicemail, too. That way, if his phone was dead, it wouldn’t matter.
“Can I be honest with you?” Finn asked, hugging him tighter.
“That’s probably a good idea, yes.”
“I’m actually glad we got snowed in together and that I get you all to myself on Christmas Eve. I know it’s selfish of me, but I’ve only just gotten you back and I’m not ready yet to share you with anyone.”
“But I don’t have my present for you here.” Jared had a very nice leather attaché at the condo for Finn.
“Oh, baby, haven’t you figured it out yet? You’re the only present I want.
